She said, “Pakistan is moving toward a future where technology empowers every citizen. The inclusion of Urdu in Meta AI ensures that no one is left behind in this digital journey.”

Meta’s Bigger Picture: Building a Smarter Nation

Meta isn’t stopping at translation. Alongside the Urdu AI launch, it also unveiled experimental programs for AI education and government digital transformation — turning vision into action.

Meta’s Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia, Sarim Aziz, emphasised the company’s mission to help the public sector and academia embrace AI.
He shared, “We are delighted that Meta AI is now available in Urdu, giving the local community new opportunities to connect with technology in their own language.”

Training the Next Generation of AI Minds

To make AI a household concept, Meta has joined forces with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), MoITT, and atomcamp to launch an AI Literacy Programme.

This program will train 350 university teachers from non-computer science fields — giving them the tools to prepare students for an AI-driven future. Think of it as planting digital seeds across universities, nurturing a new wave of Pakistani innovators.

Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025

Meta also announced GDTX 2025, an initiative designed to support Pakistan’s public institutions with Meta’s technologies and global best practices.

This program will act like a digital accelerator, helping government departments streamline operations, improve public services, and strengthen data sovereignty — with the help of Meta’s open-source AI model, Llama, co-created with Deloitte and supported by MoITT.
